PRESS RELEASE

Ocean City, New Jersey

3rd Annual Chip Miller Charity Surf Fest to raise money for Amyloidosis

The 3rd Annual Chip Miller Charity Surf Fest will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at 7th Street Beach in Ocean City, NJ. Last years event was a huge success with over 300 participants. The event rose over $8,000 which was donated to the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation (chipmiller.org).

This year’s surf fest will again include giveaway items, and a charity donation raffle. Some of the raffle items include a surf board, wet suit, and ipod. The event is open to all ages with divisions that include Longboard, Shortboard, Men and Women and a specialty division of Parent/Child heat. Pre-registration fee is $25 or you can pay $30 at the beach the day of the contest. To register for the event visit any local Ocean City, NJ surf shop or download an entry form from ChipMiller.org/surffest. For questions or more information contact Nick Bricker at 609.231.1562.

The Chip Miller Charitable Foundation was founded after the death of car hobby icon Chip Miller from the very rare disease amyloidosis. Chip was a respected friend and incredible surf father. He also co-founded Carlisle Events, the world’s largest automotive collector car business. The Foundation’s goal is to raise money to support the research of amyloidosis as well as raise awareness of this life threatening disease.

Nick Bricker, a childhood friend of Chip’s son Lance Miller, is once again spearheading the surf contest. “We would have never surfed anywhere if it wasn’t for Chip,” Bricker said of when he and Lance were younger. “He drove us around everywhere.”

Many local surf shops such as Heritage Surf & Sport and 7th Street Surf Shop are contributing money and products, and the organizers and judges all have volunteered their time. Returning as main sponsors for the surf event are Fox Riders and Jeff Quintin Real Estate Super Team.

Chip’s son, Lance Miller stated: “It’s wonderful to see my father still make a positive impression on peoples’ lives. He lived his life always helping others and now he’s in heaven looking down making more positive impressions by spreading the word about Amyloidosis. It’s amazing how he was such a dear friend with all my friends. He was my best friend and it carried over to my friends as well. We all loved to just hang out together!”

Contributions to the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation should be sent to 1000 Bryn Mawr Road, Carlisle, PA 17013-1588.
