2011 SEASON REVIEW:
Auction Week in Arizona held special significance for the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation (CMCF) this year. Through two fundraising events held at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel and at Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction, the charity raised almost $50,000 to fight Amyloidosis. Amyloidosis is the disease that took Chip Miller’s life in 2004. The week began with a gathering of racing’s elite at the spectacular Arizona Biltmore for a special viewing of “The Quest,” a documentary by Director Michael Brown. In attendance were such racing dignitaries as Bob Bondurant and his wife Pat, Lyn St. James, Arie and Meike Luyendyk, Jim Jeffords, Paul Reinhart, Dick Guldstrand and Joe Freitas. 5th Annual Corvettes for Chip Date:
Sunday - November 6, 2011 This event was a tremendous success for the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation. It was wonderful to see the many Corvette clubs come together for such a wonderful cause. Another incredible year for the Chip Miller Surf & Turf!
Date: Friday, May 6, 2011 Corvette Racing history was again made in France when Lance Miller fulfilled his father's dream of returning the class-winning #3 Cunningham Corvette to Le Mans for the 50th anniversary of its win. A feature-length documentary and a book on this great human interest story are both in the works from Michael Brown. Michael Brown has graciously allowed for the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation to produce the premiere for this incredible documentary! Please stay tuned, we're nailing down the details now and plan on having the cost and payment process on our website shortly. Many thanks to everyone that was there to support the events listed below. For 2011, we will be featuring the Chip Miller Surf Fest, Corvettes at Carlisle benefit auction and the Corvettes for Chip event. We'll have the information up in the near future. 1960 Le Mans Cunningham Corvette Reunion (50 years later!) Date: June 12-13, 2010 Click on the following link to read a through a presentation regarding this effort to help you learn why it's happening and the history behind it: 1960 Le Mans Anniversary (50 years later). This event was coordinated by Chip Miller's son, Lance, in his honor. Chip had a vision to take his prized possession back to big race in Le Mans France 50 years after the vehicle won its class back in 1960. Ironically enough his goal was to include Mr. John Fitch, now 92 years of age, in this incredible 50 year reunion. John Fitch has agreed to be a part of this endeavor and plans for the 1960 Corvette have been set to have the vehicle shipped overseas...< MORE > Be sure to see the June 3, 2010 NY Times article that talks about our effort.
