Since its inception in 2004, the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation (CMAF) has constantly strived to raise awareness of Amyloidosis and dollars to support a hopeful cure for this deadly disease.  Along the way, the CMAF hosts events and partners in fund-raising ventures to accomplish that goal, while helping others in need.  These efforts led to a very giving month in September, as TWO Corvettes were awarded and a central Pennsylvania car club was able to make a pair of donations to support charitable causes near and dear to them as well.

Let’s start with the CMAF donation and one of the Corvettes.  Annually the CMAF, in partnership with the Corvettes at Carlisle car show and the Lancaster County Corvette Club (LCCC) partners to raffle off a Corvette.  Dollars raised (after costs) are donated by the LCCC to both the CMAF and Clare House, a transitional housing program where mothers and children facing homelessness can receive the safety, support, and respect they deserve.

For 2023, the CMAF and LCCC partnered to showcase and award a 2023 C8 2LT.  In doing so, over $150,000 was raised, with the LCCC turning around and giving a total of $73,000 back; $36,500 to the CMAF and $36,500 to Clare House.  Everyone benefits, in that the CMAF and Clare House receive generous donations from the LCCC and Gary Stone from Massachusetts wins a new base-model Corvette.

Fast forward to September 30, 2023 and the CMAF was in a position to once again make a difference, while also benefiting from the generosity of others.  Spanning nearly a year, the CMAF orchestrated a national Corvette Contest sweepstakes with the grand prize being a 2023 Z06 Corvette with the Z07 Performance Package.  The highly sought-after C8 retailed for $153,115 and through the giving nature of 9,944 donations, $633,750 came in.  Much like the 2LT, costs specific to the car and its year-long promotional campaign are subtracted, but even with more than half the dollars coming out, the CMAF stands to net over $260,000; again, all dollars which go to helping those affected by Amyloidosis.  In the end, Darrell Scott from Ohio was selected at random as the winner.  Mr. Scott elected to take the $100,000 lump sum payout.

“I am so humbled by the donations that came in for these two amazing vehicles, and more so, the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation,” noted foundation president Lance Miller.  “To have nearly 10,000 people donate an average of $63 per person to win the Z06 is amazing, as is the work that the LCCC put in to promote the 2LT and their partner Clare House,” continued Miller.  “I want to thank everyone for their generous support and encourage you to visit ChipMiller.org to learn more about the foundation and this dreaded disease that took my dad from me in 2004, and the loved ones of countless others over the years.”
